What’s new with Microsoft Server 2008?

Judging by the ads, you might want to refer to the new Windows Server 2008 as Roboserver. But there’s definitely some real metal behind this new product.

For starters, Windows Server 2008 is a very stable build and it’s designed to do more with less, which means better performance at a cost savings. Another advantage is the new, reduced Server Core option, which allows users to install features and services as they need them. This amounts to less time spent installing patches and less overall downtime.

Another much improved upon feature is what they call Failover Clustering. If you have highly secure server clusters that need to be moved or configured, Failover Clustering can shift workloads so that the applications are available 24/7.

If you think that Microsoft Server 2008 might be a good fit for your company, give us a call here at Flewid Inc. We’ll figure out exactly what you’re going to need in order to make for a smooth transition.
